Gotta Love Chores!

Well, I love delegating them.
Does that count?! LOL

I decided that it is time to get everyone
on track with chores, and hold them
accountable! They need to earn all
the extras they get!

So there are certain things expected
of each of them every day.
Then there are chores that they
will rotate through.

Since I have yet to replace my
printer ink for the computers, I
decided to get creative.
I checked out some stuff on
pinterest, then did my own thing.

Our new "Chore Central" lol

These are the rotating chores

These are their individual
every day chores

And for the record, the individual
every day chores aren't as
vast as they appear here.
For each child, the bottom section
only has 1 thing listed as needed,
and 2 things 1 day a week. LOL

The "kicker" is that this mean mommy
is now going to enforce the concept of
"Nothing works unless you do"

translation: if you can't do your
chores, you don't get
priviliges and activities,
including video games, friend
activities, and sports.

Let's see how this goes.

So far, Mommy isn't so popular
with the teenager, but the 11 year old
isn't too unhappy anymore and
the 8 year old is pretty
indifferent with it all. He was 1st done.

May Challenge

I rejoined our monthly challenge group
on SCS. May was the first month
for this round.
Here are the goodies that I received to work with.

And here are the goodies I made using it up.

The challenge included 3 specific challenges.
1.  use a sketch found in the SCS sketch challenge.

I chose sketch 269

I used an image that I colored, hardware,
ribbon, and butterfly embosslits
from our challenge kit for this, along
with my own DP.

2.  make a 3x3 card to use for a gift

I used an image that I colored in, ribbon,
DP, and another butterfly embosslit
from our challenge kit on this one.

Then I still had goodies left to play with!! :)

I used two die cut strips, DP,
and an image from our challenge
kit on this.

I used an image that I colored in,
DP, twisted cord, ribbon, and
hardware from our challenge kit.

I used an image that I colored in,
and ribbon from our challenge kit
for this.

I used an image and musical
DP from our challenge kit on this.

The striped DP on this is from
our challenge kit.

The tag itself, and the butterfly
embosslits are from our challenge kit.

I love the monthly challenge.
It's always fun to work the stuff
someone else picks out, and the
challenges they come up with.  :)

A bit of a hiatis

I know I haven't added anything new lately.
It probably has something to do with
the last few weeks of school, and
all the awards nights, banquets, and
field trips being crammed in, not to mention
having one kiddo graduating 8th
grade, and all of the work for that.
Or maybe the start of our crazy
summer ball schedule.  LOL

But I did get a small amouth of
creating done over the last month or so.
So for now, I'll share that with you.

This is the inviation I made
for the celebration at home after
the graduation ceremony.
I also did thank you notes for
her to send out.

The parents of the 8th grade class
worked together to throw
the kids a community party
that even included a dance for them.
We set up tables and each student
had a display area and a gift
bag that people could place cards
in. I made one of these with
each student's name to hang on the
front of their gift bag.

This was Ali's finished display

I did the cakes for their
community graduation party.

This was Ali's cake for her celebration at
home following the ceremony.
She told me she wanted her cake to be
"Her" rather than school colors.
So this is the "her" that I came up with.

Mother's Day was also in there.
This is the card I made for Mom.

This is the card Mom made for me.
Isn't it just adorable?! :)

My Little Lego Man's 8th Birthday

My youngest turned 8 yesterday.
His favorite thing in the entire world
right now is Legos. And they are
wonderful for him!

He was super excited when
we found Lego Star Wars party
decor.

I had to do the sticker thing for his
card since my stamp sets don't exactly
include legos or star wars. LOL
But he really loved it.
He was still looking it over about 5
minutes later, and looked over at
me and said "That is really cool!"

The blue layer is only attached
to the left side of the gate
fold card.

When you lift the blue layer,
the yellow layer is attached to the
right side of the gate fold.

This is all the way open.

And of course, I have to share
his cake! :)

PSC Monochromatic Thoughts of You

This week's challenge for
is a monochromatic thoughts of you.

I really like working with
a monochromatic layout.
Here is my creation.

Bermuda Rose

My card base is bermuda rose.
I used a portion of a previously made
card front done in the shaving cream
technique using soft sky, bermuda bay,
and taken with teal for a background
layer. I stamped my 2-step image
from SU's A Rose Is A Rose stamp
set in bermuda bay.  I stamped off
first for the lighter layer.
I sponged the edges of the
image layer with bermuda bay
ink. I stamped the sentiment from
SU's Curvy Verses stamp set
in bermuda bay ink. I used
bermuda bay dotted ribbon in
a wavy effect across the middle,
and added a bow at the end.
I used pearls to finish it off.

PSC27 Wonderful Mother

This week's Perfect Sentiments
Challenge is a Mother's Day Color Story.
You can see the challenge here.

I used all 5 colors in the color story.
My versions of the colors were kiwi kiss,
cherry cobbler, dusty durango, barely
banana, and whisper white.

My card base is whisper white,
with a kiwi kiss DP, cherry
cobbler, and another DP
forming my card front.
I stamped the image from SU's
A Kind Word stamp set in
memento tuxedo black ink,
and used markers and blender
pens with ink to color it in.
I used a variety of coordinating
DPs for my layers.
I stamped the sentiment from
SU's Well Scripted stamp set
in memento tuxedo black ink.
I added some hodgepodge
hardware with kiwi kiss ribbon
and some pearls for some
embellishing.

Ironically, this challenge was posted
on April 11, the one year
anniversary of my Daddy
leaving us to start his Heavenly
journey.  This last year would not
have been survivable if it wasn't
for my awesome mom! She is truly
amazing! So it was perfect timing
to celebrate my wonderful mother
and all she does for her daughters and
grandchildren! We love you Mom!
